Two French film companies to review oeuvre of Kiarostami

Two French-based film companies are to exhibit an oeuvre of late veteran Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

Two French-based film companies including Pompidou Center and MK2 Films have teamed up to put on display an oeuvre of late veteran Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami in a program titled ‘Where Is Friend Kiarostami?’.     

According to the organizers of the exhibition, all Kiarostami’s works, from collections of videos and documents, series of his unpublished photographs, sequences of his most awarded films and presentations of his works on classical and contemporary poetry, will be showcased at the event to be held on May 5 to July 5, 2021 with numerous guests in attendance.

A total of 46 films by Kiarostami will be also reviewed in a retrospective, on April 15 to July 4, to be supervised by Iranian interpreter and one of Kiarostami’s close collaborators, Masoumeh Lahidji.

The Kiarostami Foundation has also contributed to the exhibits.

Earlier reports have also announced that Netflix has penned a new deal with MK2 Films Company to screen a number of restored versions of Kiarostami’s films, including ‘Taste of Cherry’, ‘The Wind Will Carry Us’ and ‘Where Is the Friend’s Home?’.
